A Quick Note From Kimberly
Hi! I'm Kimberly, the photographer & visual storyteller behind Creative Captures by Kimberly.

I know being in front of the camera can feel intimidating, especially when you're worried about outfits, children cooperating, or whether everyone will smile at the same time. My goal is to create a relaxed experience where you can simply enjoy the moment while I capture the memories.
As a mom, I understand how quickly life changes and how important it is to preserve the little moments that often pass by too fast. That's why I focus on creating an enjoyable experience and delivering a gallery full of memories you'll treasure for years to come.
So let's get you ready for your session!
Booking a photography session can feel exciting, but it can also come with a lot of questions. What should you wear? What if your kids don't cooperate? What happens after the session?

The good news is that you don't have to have everything figured out before you arrive. My goal is to make your session feel relaxed, enjoyable, and stress-free from start to finish.
Whether you're booking a newborn session, family session, milestone session, branding session, or professional headshots, here's what you can expect when working with Creative Captures by Kimberly.
Before Your Session
Once your session is booked, we'll discuss any important details, including location, timing, and the overall look you're hoping to achieve. Much of this will be located in the contract I'll provide you.

Not sure what to wear? I'm always happy to offer suggestions and help you choose outfits that photograph well together. Full sessions purchased for children & newborns include full (& optional) access to the Creative Captures Closet, which can make the session a breeze for parents. Learn more here.
While I don't provide a formal styling guide, I'm more than happy to answer questions and help you feel prepared before your session.
You will hear from me again, before your session to reconfirm deets!
The Day of Your Session
The most important thing to bring is a positive attitude and realistic expectations—especially when little ones are involved.
Children don't need to sit perfectly still or smile at the camera the entire time. Some of the most meaningful images come from genuine interactions, laughter, cuddles, and even those little moments in between.

For newborn and baby sessions, we work at your baby's pace. If we need to stop for feeding, changing, comforting, or a quick break, that's completely okay.
For branding and headshot sessions, I'll guide you through posing and expressions so you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. For these sessions specifically, I provide additional shots that can be used for social media purposes and branding.
Did something come up and you need to reschedule!? I understand life happens! Reach out, and we will find an alternate date!
During the Session
One of the biggest concerns I hear from clients is:
"We're awkward in front of the camera."
Don't worry—that's what I'm here for.

You don't need modeling experience or know how to pose. I'll provide direction throughout the session while also capturing natural moments as they unfold.
My goal is to create images that feel genuine and reflect your personality, not stiff or overly posed.
After Your Session
After your session, I'll carefully sort through and edit your images to ensure they match my style and quality standards. Once your gallery is complete, you'll receive a private online gallery where you can view and download your images. Please download them within five days. I will also provide you a print release, should you need it (often not required), and I'm happy to provide suggestions on where to print your photos! Just ask!

One thing my clients quickly learn is that I tend to be generous with photos. While most packages include a minimum number of edited images, I often deliver many more than promised because I want you to have as many beautiful memories as possible.
I encourage clients to download their entire gallery so they have every image available to enjoy, print, and share for years to come.
A Few Final Tips
For Families & Children

Bring snacks and drinks if needed.
Don't stress if your child isn't in the mood right away.
Trust the process and focus on enjoying time together.
For Newborns & Babies
Feed baby shortly before the session if possible.
Bring any sentimental items you'd like included.
Relax—we'll work around baby's needs. We are on your newborn's watch!
For Couples & Maternity
The most beautiful images come from connection, not perfect posing
I’ll guide you into natural, flattering positions while still allowing real emotion to shine through
Don’t worry about “doing it right”—just focus on each other and the moment you’re in. Forget I am there!
For Branding & Headshots
Choose clothing that makes you feel confident.
Bring a second outfit if you'd like variety (included with The First Glance Mini Session).
Trust my guidance on posing and expressions.
For Special Event Coverage

If you're booking me for an event—such as a birthday party, bridal shower, or special gathering—the same relaxed approach applies. I focus on capturing both candid moments, event esthetics and key highlights so you can stay present and enjoy your event without worrying about documenting it.
I blend into the background when needed, while also stepping in for those important group photos and moments you’ll want to remember.
Don't forget - event packages can include video coverage as well! Discuss with me, regarding custom packages!
My Promise to You
My goal is simple: to create beautiful images while making the experience enjoyable from beginning to end. I will take your family's photos, as if they are my own!
You don't need perfect children, perfect outfits, or modeling experience. You simply need to show up, be yourself, and let me capture the moments that matter most.
I can't wait to work with you and help tell your story.
